Stratton Motor Company are proud to present probably one of the finest examples of the iconic Aston Martin DB5’s currently available anywhere in the world.

This car underwent a full and detailed restoration by an Aston Martin specialist to a client’s exact specification which included the fitting of a 4 speed ‘ZF’ auto gearbox, state of the art air-conditioning, upgraded power assisted steering, suspension handling kit with Koni Shock Absorbers, ‘brake booster kit’ and uprated power window conversion.

These sensible and subtle modifications take nothing away from the genuine DNA of this truly historic car, but add some of the benefits from a more modern era that will add so much to the driving experience.

So much attention to detail was required by the client right down to the classic Aston Martin colour and historically important ‘Sanction 2 Green’ that appeared on the DB4GT Zagato’s , the ‘unbuilt’ cars produced by Aston Martin Lagonda in 1991 whilst Aston Martin was under the management of Victor Gauntlett.

The bodyshell, chassis and components were also subject of complete restoration. The restored bodyshell was acid treated to remove all signs of oxidisation and then oven dried and etch primed before being subjected to the application of special epoxy high build primers before being manually block flattened to give the ultimate flatness to all panels. The final colour was then trapped between seven coats of high quality two pack lacquer before the final hand flattening to give an incredible finish.

Equal detail was paid to the suspension and steering components, components having been bead and sand blasted before being re-painted with Bonda primer and 2k black enamel, all bushes and moving and wearing components being replaced where necessary.

All electrical components were rebuilt and the wiring loom replaced, along with the refurbishment of all dashboard fittings and instruments.

All chrome parts were then refurbished to ‘Concours’ standard and the interior re-trimmer in black Connolly leather with new interior Wilton carpets.

To add to the final build quality a full stainless steel exhaust system was fitted along with new chrome wheels and Pirelli tyres and comes with its original hydraulic jack and tool kit.

This DB5 not only has its place in motoring history, but given the quality and detail in its restoration by industry experts, craftsmen in their own right, and the ‘sensible but subtle’ modifications this surely has to be one of the most desirable DB5s currently offered for sale.

THE ASTON MARTIN DB5
Racing has played a major part in the development of all Aston Martin engines since Frank Halford designed the original 1.5-litre unit for Bamford & Martin. The 3,995cc 6-cylinder light-alloy engine fitted to the DB5 is in all major respects the same as that which powered the 4-litre prototype which ran in the 1962 and 1963 Le Mans 24-Hour races.
