The Road Runner was the working man's affordable muscle car. The GTX was the gentleman's upper scale muscle car. They came with at least a 440 motor, bucket seats with a console, woodgrain trim and more. This one is an excellent example having great fit and finish. It runs strong, ready for show and go. EXTERIOR: The body is straight, no rust or damage. The paint is exceptional- metal flake is laid out evenly and the clear coat is polished like glass. Jambs are painted real slick. Weatherstrips and window seals were replaced. Very classy looking color. Painted on satin black hood patch. The double white stripes bring attention to the GTX callout. Bumpers are shiny and straight. Grill looks like a good original that’s been polished. Stainless trim is straight and polished. The tail panel is excellent, taillights look new. Vinyl top is excellent. 15 inch Magnum 500 wheels are sparkling and have new BFG tires that were just installed. INTERIOR: Overall very nice. Door panels, armrests have been replaced. The metal trim is smooth gloss black. Dash area is very nice, nut cut up or broken. Very nice center console with working lights. The seats have excellent cushions and upholstery. Headliner and visors are excellent, dome light works. Complete set of original seatbelts. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Correct 1968 440 motor. Restored and detailed to stock condition. Correct manifolds, valve covers and air cleaner. Edelbrock carb on top with electric choke. All the components look clean and proper. Washers are hooked up, has both horns, battery is bolted down and has a disconnect, new hood insulation. Correct Mopar radiator and shroud. Optional power brakes. The engine bay is clean metal painted very nicely. The number on the core support match, fender tag is in place. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Pristine metal, the trunk floor was replaced. Repainted body color. The mat and weatherstrip were replaced. It has a jack and spare assembly. UNDERSIDE: Very clean, solid original metal. Many components were rebuilt or replaced. The front end suspension and steering has been rebuilt and detailed. The rear springs and shocks look fresh. Disc brake upgrade in front, e-brake assembly is hooked up, lines and hoses were replaced. Dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers and correct tips. Fuel tank, straps and lines were replaced. Looking up at the motor it is spotless, starter looks fresh. Correct 727 Torqueflite automatic looks fresh. The driveshaft was rebuilt and painted. The 8 3/4 rear end is gloss black. Nothing to be ashamed of here, this is a very well sorted and restored GTX. It has a great look with big chrome magnums and a classy color. Great sound from the 440 big block. Detailed and ready for show!
