1974 Alfa Romeo Montreal
£60,000.00 | €70,193.52 | $75,233.40

The Alfa Rome Type 33 was a leviathan in the Mille Miglia, Spa and other high-octane road-racing events in the 1960s. At its heart was the 2½ litre, V8 engine pushing this classic racer to multiple victories and it is this self-same unit, although de-tuned for obvious reasons, that can be found in the Montreal. Still, 200bhp through the ZF gearbox and modified 105 series rear axle were incorporated to good effect. Truly an exotic powerplant for a road car. In 1967, Alfa Romeo was asked to provide an exhibit that would be representative of the automotive industry. The result was a fabulous prototype designed by Marcello Gandini of the Bertone styling house and named Montreal in honour of the event.

This fabulous right hand drive example, in classic red with black interior, was supplied new to the UK and first registered on 1st November 1974. Offered in good order throughout the Montreal looks superb and is reported to drive as it should. It has benefitted from a recent engine-out refresh including a fuel injection system overhaul and recondition, engine bay repaint, new hoses, new air breather system, and a new full stainless steel exhaust including two handmade stainless steel manifolds, and a new fuel pump and fuel lines, other works completed include an interior refresh to the seats, dashboard, new carpets, gaiters, and new boot trims. In more recent months a full service and extensive engine tune and set up have been undertaken. The original magnesium wheels have also been professionally refurbished and are fitted with new tyres all-round. The Alfa-Romeo looks superb and is accompanied by a sizeable history file. The Montreal is one of the most handsome, well-engineered and best driving motorcars, Alfa Romeo have ever produced. Consigned by Daniel Godin.
