At the end of the 1970s, Mercedes-Benz decided to enter a lower segment with a smaller model. In order to give the car the quality and comfort that customers expected, the manufacturer invested heavily in the model. The result was the 190 (W201), a timeless car that seemed to be built to last forever. A classic that is now an integral part of the streetscape of the past, and even today. The Mercedes 190D, the first models of which are now 40 years old. A car that makes you love cars. A car without nonsense and yet full of character. A car with rock-solid build quality that is hard to find in many modern cars today. This is not entirely illogical when you consider that hundreds of millions of euros were reportedly spent on the development of the 190D. This example rolled off the production line in the summer of 1985 and has only just been run in since then. With 176,000 kilometres on the clock, it is ready for a second, third and fourth life. These 190 D diesels just keep on ticking. The exterior was delivered from the factory in neat white and the paintwork is in good condition. The interior is also in beautiful original condition. The structure of the steering wheel is still very nicely intact. And both the fabric upholstery and the door cards are virtually undamaged.

Om de auto de kwaliteit en het comfort te geven die de klant verwacht, investeert de fabrikant groots in het model. Resultaat is de 190 (W201), een tijdloze auto die voor de eeuwigheid gemaakt lijkt. Een klassieker die nu niet weg te denken is uit het straatbeeld van vroeger, en zelfs nu. De Mercedes 190D, inmiddels zijn de eerste exemplaren 40 jaar oud. Een auto waardoor je van auto's gaat houden. Een auto zonder nonsens en toch vol karakter. Een auto met oerdegelijke bouwkwaliteit welke tegenwoordig bij veel moderne auto's ver te zoeken is. Ook niet geheel onlogisch als je bedenkt dat er naar verluid honderden miljoenen euro's aan de ontwikkeling van de 190D zijn gespendeerd. Dit exemplaar rolde van de band in de zomer van 1985 en is sindsdien pas net ingereden. Met 176000 kilometer op de klok is hij klaar voor een tweede, derde, en vierde leven. Deze 190 D diesels blijven maar lekker door tokkelen. Het exterieur is in keurig wit afgeleverd door de fabriek en het lakwerk verkeert in een keurige staat. Het interieur verkeert eveneens in een fraaie originele staat. De structuur van het stuur is nog steeds erg mooi intact. En zowel de stoffen bekleding als de deurkaarten zijn vrijwel onbeschadigd.
