In the late 1970s, Mercedes-Benz decides to enter a lower segment with a smaller model. To give the car the quality and comfort customers expect, the manufacturer invests heavily in the model. The result is the 190 (W201), a timeless car that seems made for eternity. A classic that is now impossible to imagine the streets of the past, and even today. The Mercedes 190D, by now the first examples are 40 years old. A car that makes you love cars. A car without nonsense and yet full of character. A car with rock-solid build quality, which is hard to find in many modern cars nowadays. Not entirely illogical when you consider that hundreds of millions of euros were reportedly spent on developing the 190D. This example rolled off the assembly line in the summer of 1985 and has only just been driven in since then. With 176000 kilometres on the clock, it is ready for a second, third, and fourth life. These 190 D diesels just keep ticking over nicely. The exterior was delivered in neat white by the factory and the paintwork is in pristine condition. The interior is also in fine original condition. The structure of the steering wheel is still very nicely intact. And both the fabric upholstery and the door cards are virtually undamaged.
