The MGC was the more powerful, rarer six-cylinder version of the MGB and was built between 1967 and 1969. It was intended as the successor to the Austin Healey and to take MG's sports car range to a higher performance level. It featured the C series Austin, 2,912 cc (3.0 litre) in-line six-cylinder rated at 145 hp at 5,500 rpm. The body and rear suspension largely matched the MGB, but the front suspension was strengthened to carry the extra weight and torque of the six-cylinder. Equipped with servo-assisted disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The MGC combined smooth power with a characteristic six-cylinder sound .
