The Mini is a small car, produced in its original version as the Austin Seven and Morris Mini Minor between 1959 and 1970. In 1970, the Mini brand was introduced and the two earlier models were only referred to as 'Mini'. It was a revolutionary and characterful small car designed for the British Motor Corporation (BMC) by Alec Issigonis (1906-1988) and made in Birmingham. This car featured new advanced technologies for the time, such as a transverse engine and front-wheel drive, a concept widely used today. The Mini was available with engines of 850, 1000 and 1275 cc. From 1964 to 1971, the Minis had the Alex Moulton-designed hydraulic suspension system called hydrolastic.
