General information:
One of the most desirable variants of the Hermann Ahrens-designed Mercedes-Benz 300 is the large Cabriolet D, one of the last four-door convertibles produced by a European car manufacturer. Versions were produced on all 300 chassis variants, with the example offered here being an early production model on the original 300 chassis. Highly innovative for a large luxury car of its time, it features a 115 hp overhead camshaft six-cylinder engine mounted on a racing-inspired tubular frame with independent suspension on all four corners. The result was a luxury car with great ride and handling.
