In the Netherlands, the Tomos 4L is introduced with a completely new chassis section and the aforementioned engine in 4-speed version. There is a strong resemblance to the old Tomos models, real the frame is wider in base.Whereas the prototypes probably still used the old 19-inch rims, they soon switched to 18-inch. The 4L further differs by the use of new hubs without the hollow shafts, a different swingarm, with different shock absorbers and detachable chain guards. The 4L still has the aluminium Hella rear light , the rear shock absorbers with closed chrome bushings, a fully painted block, but most importantly still has the original trial handlebars with embossed logo. The front mudguard was still painted in the colour of the frame. The old round cylinder with its smaller spool ports is replaced by the new square cylinder with wider spool ports. This necessitates a modification to the crankcase, here too we see larger spool ports. A full chrome front mudguard, polished cooling housing parts of the engine and a polished clutch cover also follow towards the end of 72. During this period, a 50cc motorbike is also temporarily offered in the Netherlands, better known in Slovenia as Kolibri 15, in the Netherlands as ST50. This belly slider has the same engine as the 4L but now with 5 gears which delivered about 5hp. When the motorbike proved to be unsaleable in the Netherlands, the remaining models were converted to mopeds.
