Audi 80 convertible 5 cylinder injection engine, with the galvanised and rust-free body. 1986 Audi introduced the third-generation 80 with internal factory code typ89. As a special feature, the typ89 had a very low CW value of as low as 0.29. The total front area of the typ89 was only 1.91 square metres. One such way of keeping drag low was the relatively flat windscreen, something that was still unique in this class in the mid-80s. The technology came from the earlier generation B2. Thus, the engine was again longitudinally located and drove the front wheels. Optional with the heavier engines, the Quattro system was also available. The typ89 was available with three different gearboxes, the four-speed, five-speed and three-speed automatic. The typ89 was one of the first cars to have a body completely galvanised with zinc, which completely eliminated rust, an important selling point at a time when rust was ending the life of many cars prematurely. Audi therefore gave a 10-year warranty against rusting through from the inside (later 12-year warranty). The model proved a hit and sales were very good. The example offered here was delivered new in 1994 and came very complete The overall condition is remarkably good, obviously it stayed in enthusiasts' hands. Both interior and exterior come in pristine condition! Technically too, it was consistently serviced and the service intervals are stamped. Technically therefore also a fantastic driving young timer suitable for long journeys or daily use. For tall people, the Audi 80 offers remarkably good seating and plenty of space.
