This car was the subject of a bare metal restoration five years ago, including upgrades to the engine, brakes, wheels and tyres. The aim of the work was to improve the drive ability in modern traffic while keeping the original simple charm of the Panda. This has resulted in a nippy fun car with only subtle cosmetic changes, namely the addition of genuine Panda roof bars and 14 steel wheels in the same style as the originals but taken from a Fiat 500, painted white, and wrapped in 165/60/14 tyres for safer handling. Upgraded Sony USB stereo system.

Originally a 1.0L spi engine it now has a 1242cc spi engine from a low mileage Mk1 Fiat Punto boosting power from 50bhp to around 70bhp. In such a light car this makes a very noticeable difference. Brakes have been upgraded with a larger master cylinder/ servo so are more than capable of bringing the car to a swift halt. The engine conversion was professionally carried out and presents beautifully while still looking factory original.

The interior has been left totally original, the only change was the fitment of a better drivers seat in a matching pattern.

The bodywork still presents beautifully and is totally rust free. In the five years since the restoration there has been a couple of tiny blemishes, one on the roof looks to be from bird droppings, and a tiny scratch on the L/H front wing.

Its only fair to point out that the five speed gearbox is the original and was left untouched during the restoration, it is now starting to crunch slightly when going into third gear if the change is rushed. This is not uncommon for Pandas of this age and is an indication that the gearbox could do with a rebuild at some point in the next two to three years.

The Panda used only for attending a couple of car shows and more recently, when it has been in demand by the press and social media to help promote the launch of the newly released Fiat Grande Panda. It can be seen in various YouTube videos and Auto Italia Magazine, a copy of which will be in the history file if the magazine is released prior to the sale.

Fiat Panda's have now become a iconic cult classic car. With very few remaining on the road this restored example makes a great buy for any classic car enthusiast.
