For sale Datsun 240Z , in the Netherlands since 2004. The beautifully running 6-cylinder petrol engine is fed by 3 Weber carburettors and drives the rear wheels through a 4-speed gearbox. The car has been well maintained and both the interior and exterior are in very nice condition. The previous owner fitted the 240Z with a trip master for puzzle driving. The Datsun name became internationally known for its Z-series sports cars . The appearance of the 240Z in 1969 was an incredible sales hit, which put Datsun on the world map as a sports car manufacturer. It was at the Tokyo Motor Show that the Datsun 240Z was first shown to the public. A beautifully lined sleek 2-seater with long low nose, a 6-cylinder inline engine with 2400cc capacity. In Europe, the first 240Z was shown at the Brussels Motor Show on 24 January 1970. Nissan involved German Albrecht Goertz in their new project, because of his knowledge with American tastes and as a designer. Goertz, together with Nissan designers, developed a hard-top coupe with 2 wider seats than the average Japanese size. The concept was based on cars of the time: the Porsche 911 and the Jaguar E-type. The design was finished in late 1964 and featured wire wheels and folding headlights. The prototype was built at Yamaha, with whom Nissan had an agreement to install the newly designed Yamaha 2.0ltr engine with twin camshafts. Due to technical problems with the engine, Nissan abandoned the idea. It seems Yamaha took the idea to Toyota, where it was further developed in the 2000GT, which interestingly had the same wire wheels and folding headlights. A sort of half-brother, then.
