This is a 1937 Model 812 Cord Cabriolet “Sportsman”. A beautifully restored example by noted Auburn Cord Duesenberg marque expert and restorer Harry Van Iderstine (a highly respected authority in the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg community). This Immaculate, rust-free, damage-free, laser straight Cord Cabriolet would be one of the pinnacles of any credible classic automobile collection. This Cabriolet is distinguished within the Cord line as one of only 200 two-seater convertibles, the rarest of the variants offered by the Cord Automobile Company of Auburn, Indiana in 1936 and 1937. Restoration included a complete bare metal paint and chrome to factory specs, but also the stunning full leather upholstery by Auburn Cord Duesenberg expert Rick Huelett. A complete driveline refurbishment was performed as well as the numerous details of steering and suspension were diligently attended to. Finished in factory Palm Beach Tan over factory Rich Maroon hides, the complete restoration was done in keeping with the restoration guidelines of the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Club and shows incredibly well today after temperature-controlled storage since completion. This two-seater classic has been meticulously maintained and includes the coveted upgrade of the front wheel drive to include Richardson joints. A part of a prestigious Northern California collection since Mr. Van Iderstine’s passing, this fully sorted Cord is ready to show at the concours level or drive simply for your enjoyment.
