Chassis No. 01558 Engine No. 0006887 (internal no. 560) The Ferrari Dino 246 GT evolved from the Dino 206 GT, created to meet Formula Two regulations and to homologate the Dino 2.0-liter V6 engine. The first Ferrari to receive this engine, initially criticized by purists as being too compact, the car was quickly praised as soon as it was produced, admired, and driven. The 246 GT was fitted with a 2.4-liter Dino V6 engine with twin overhead camshafts, producing 195 horsepower and fed by three Weber twin-choke carburetors, paired with a five-speed gearbox. Its success was such that orders continued to pour in when production came to an end in 1974. Three series of the Dino 246 GT existed, the rarest being the M series, produced mainly in 1971 in only 507 examples. This series introduced five-bolt wheels, an interior trunk release, seat-mounted headrests, a 30-mm increase in rear track, ATE brakes, among numerous other small improvements. Chassis number 01558, which is part of this series, finished production on 28 January 1971 and was delivered new in Italy by Nocentini Automobili in Florence, in the vibrant color combination it still wears today, Blu Sera Metallizzato with an Orange leather interior, to Alessandro Alderighi. Acquired the same year by the Italian Umberto Lombardi, then residing in Sweden in the suburbs of Stockholm, it was kept by him until 1977, before passing into the hands of a compatriot living in the same area. That same year, 1977, it moved to southern Sweden, to the small town of Nässjö, where it successively changed owners between Ralph Röme and then Lennart Kjell. From 1984 onward, the Röme brothers acquired it again: it was first registered in the name of Rune Röme until 1989, then once again in the name of Ralph Röme until 2017. That year, it passed through the dealer Svensk Motorkraft before being acquired by Mats Höglund, who owned and cared for it until 2024. Keen to learn more about the origins of his Dino, he called upon Matthias Bartz, with the corresponding Dino Compendium extract on file, as well as Ferrari in order to further investigate its history and to undertake a major restoration, carried out in respect of its original configuration. Over the course of this research, he discovered that only five examples of the Dino 246 GT featured this orange interior emblematic of the 1970s, likely making this Dino the sole example ordered in this color combination. A substantial file of invoices and photographs, attesting to all stages of the restoration, accompanies the car and is available for review. Charmed by this European example, matching numbers, restored with discernment, wearing its original color combination and boasting a clear ownership history, the current owner acquired it in 2024. In order to perfect the restoration, he entrusted the complete engine overhaul to L’Officina in Brussels, highly respected and well-known independent Ferrari specialists in Belgium. The invoice detailing the work carried out, dated September 2025, is available in the file. This Ferrari Dino 246 GT, with its rounded lines and endurance-prototype appearance, stands as a true testament to 1970s Ferrari design. Fully restored and wearing its unique Blu Sera Metallizzato with Orange interior, it now awaits its next owners, ready to be driven, admired, and enjoyed.
