Chassis No. AM1151184 Engine No. AM1151184 Unveiled at the 1966 Turin Motor Show, the Ghibli, with its sharply angled yet profoundly modern lines penned by Giorgetto Giugiaro during his time at Ghia, was powered by a 4.7-liter V8 engine mated to either a five-speed manual gearbox or a three-speed automatic, producing 330 horsepower. Its striking design and impressive performance, foreshadowing the Italian supercars of the years to come, proved compelling enough to win over Mr. Dall’Aglio and his wife. Bruno Dall’Aglio, an engineer and distinguished professor at the University of Padua, later serving as its dean, had collaborated professionally—and intellectually—with Giulio Alfieri, a Maserati engineer whose work focused primarily on the V8 engine. One can easily imagine that it was Alfieri himself who recommended Maserati’s latest Ghibli to him. The couple placed their order for their new car—one of the last 4.7-liter examples produced—directly with the Maserati factory in Modena. On Alfieri’s advice, they chose the elegant and distinctly Seventies Beige Metallizzato exterior with a beige leather interior, in which the car is still presented today, along with the manual transmission. True to his engineer’s meticulous nature, Dall’Aglio always entrusted the maintenance of his Ghibli to Maserati’s after-sales service at the Modena factory. When that service was closed following the brand’s acquisition, the owner was referred to Franco Tralli, the exact same person who had been servicing this very car at the Modena factory and had now set up his own workshop. A few years after Mr. Dall’Aglio’s passing—as noted in the file via a friendly message from Alfieri—the family wished to sell the Ghibli to someone they could trust. It was then that Tralli introduced the current owner, who, after long and almost affectionate discussions with the family, acquired the car in 2010. Captivated by the model’s authenticity, this new—and only the second—owner drove the Ghibli back to Belgium from Mantua and fell irrevocably in love with it. Becoming one of his favorite cars within an extensive collection, he undertook long journeys to Rome and the United Kingdom without ever encountering any issues, adding roughly more than ten thousand kilometers and taking the odometer past the 100,000 km mark. Respectful of the car’s history, he once again entrusted it to Tralli in Italy in 2018 for a major service totaling €12,000, with a detailed invoice on file. Matching numbers, unrestored, showing 13,877 km on the five-digit odometer, to which one hundred thousand kilometers must be added, and coming with its tool kit, this Ghibli, chassis 1184, is presented in remarkable original condition. This is confirmed by statement from the former owner’s daughter, Maria Gioia Dall’Aglio, as well as by the comprehensive and precise evaluation report conducted by FSP, which awarded it an AA rating, reserved for vehicles retaining more than 90% of their original condition. Both attestations are available for review in the file, along with original Maserati brochures and copies of its original italian carta di circolazione.
