Introduced initially in hardtop form in 1975, the XJS carried the torch forward as the E-Type's modernized successor; retaining its statement-making V12 while evolving over the next decade into a refined grand tourer. From 1981, the XJS was fitted with the High-Efficiency V12 that produced an improved 263 horsepower and far better fuel economy. The XJS Convertible arrived for the 1989 model year with a power-folding soft top plus meaningful upgrades such as anti-lock brakes, a revised steering rack with a tighter turning radius, fresh multi-spoke alloy wheels, central locking, and an elevated cabin featuring new burl walnut trim and power-adjustable heated sport seats—all of which only strengthened the XJS’ appeal. According to its clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report, this XJS was first registered in St. Louis, Missouri in September 1988 and remained in the state for more than 30 years under a small number of attentive owners. Regular servicing is documented by the report, including a substantial refresh at European car specialists GLM Motorworks in February 2021 where the front shock absorbers and bushings were replaced, the fuel system was serviced, and the fuel injectors were replaced. The Florida-based consignor acquired the car that July. It has since received additional care including a service in October 2025.
