Chassis No. AM101 02019 Named in honor of the 12 Hours of Sebring, where the Maserati 450S driven by Juan Manuel Fangio and Jean Behra achieved a remarkable victory in 1957, the Maserati 3500 GTi Sebring carries over the mechanics of its recent predecessor, the 3500 GTI, which itself was derived from the engine of the Maserati 350S, a racing prototype entered in the Mille Miglia, renowned for its reliability. The Sebring features a tubular chassis and a fuel-injected 3.5-liter inline-six producing 235 horsepower, dressed by the great designer Giovanni Michelotti for Vignale. Delivered new through Cornacchia Automobili in Milan on 17 December 1963, and finished in Grigio Fumo with a red leather interior, the Maserati 3500 GTi Sebring, chassis number 02019, was fitted with the desirable five-speed ZF manual transmission and was supplied with five Borrani wire wheels and its tool kit, available as options. Accompanied by its Maserati Classiche certificate and a copy of the ACI PRA cronologico (Pubblico Registro Automobilistico, a public chronological ownership record), the car’s continuous ownership history is fully documented. Its first registration was MI860210 under its original owner, Pierino Rimoldi, who sold it in 1972 to Nodari Costante, who immediately transferred it to Croci Gualtiero. Fittipaldi Luigi acquired the car in June 1973 and had the registration changed to N53645. In 1980, it returned to Milan with Gavoni Albino under the new plate number MI99167F, before being sold in 1983 to Gioacchino Cesare in Trapani. In 1985, it was deregistered and removed from the Italian vehicle registry, joining the significant Italian collection of Luigi Compiano in Treviso, while in rough condition and in need of a full restoration. The current owner acquired the sleeping beauty in 2016, when this significant collection was dispersed at a public sale in Italy. He commissioned a full restoration, with photographs available on file, enhancing its colors with the iconic shade of Grigio Metallizzato over its red leather interior, and had the car re-registered. Since the completion of its exacting restoration this Sebring remains undriven and, according to the consigning specialist, will benefit from a light recommissioning by its next owner, presenting an exceptional opportunity to be the first to enjoy the car following its comprehensive restoration.
