The NSU Ro 80 was a four-door upper-middle class sedan from NSU that was marketed between 1967 and 1977. The car had an aerodynamic body that was ahead of its time and was voted Car of the Year 1968. In addition, the Ro 80 had a Wankel engine, which was unusual. The NSU Spider was the first to receive such an engine in 1963. A total of 37.374 units were produced during the ten-year production period.
In the Wald-und-Schlosshotel in Friedrichsruhe, 30 km east of Neckarsulm, the gentlemen Praxl (project leader), Froede (research), Sussner (production) and Strobel (construction) met. There they determined the lines of the new car. It was to be a sporty middle-class car with a two-disc Wankel engine in the front and rear-wheel drive. Also a hydraulic gearbox with limited slip differential, air suspension and disc brakes.
The R80 presented here is a top-quality, original car that still has its original paint. It was in the possession of a museum for 40 years, which is why it's so beautifully preserved. Before arriving here, the car underwent a thorough overhaul, with all wear parts and fluids replaced. Now this car is completely ready to hit the road again, a feast for the eyes and for the new owner.
