Chassis No. 2K50023-BW Upon the reintroduction of the V12 in 1972, Daimler revived the legendary Double-Six nameplate. Not only was the V12 beloved for its smooth, silent operation, but its flexibility also allowed it to effortlessly waft along or cross continents. The long-standing tradition of refined elegance is easily distinguished by its distinct ribbed radiator grille and trunk lid handle. This seldom-seen left-hand-drive Double-Six was registered by its first owner, Guy Parmentier, on 19 June 1974 in Calais, Northern France. Finished in Silver-Light Metallic, the luxurious interior used sumptuous supple dark blue leather, contrasting the rich walnut wood trim. The current owner, Allaert, had known the Daimler for a long time, as it was driven from Calais to Belgium regularly by the original owner during the 1980s and 1990s for business meetings. At one of these meetings, Allaert said that should the car ever be sold, he would be interested in purchasing it. Not forgetting this request, upon Parmentier’s passing, the Daimler finally entered Allaert’s collection in 2014 after residing in Parmentier’s care for 40 years. Over 50 years since leaving the Coventry assembly plant, this Daimler has earned a lovely patina that is only capable of decades of careful use. Documented by its original service book, it covered just 68,345 kilometers at the time of consignment. The paintwork is reported to be largely original and beautifully preserved, with only the right rear fender known to have been refinished under the second and current owner’s care due to parking damage from its original owner as documented in the accompanying history file, completed by the renowned experts at Janssen of Braine l'Alleud, Belgium. At the same time some minor retouches, almost impossible to detect, to various areas of the underbody have been professionally caried out to return the car to excellent condition. The untouched interior is lovely preserved with minimal signs of use while developing a charming patina, while mechanically the current owner continued to maintain this Daimler in the same spirit as the original owner’s exacting standards. One of the most luxurious British offerings when new, this Daimler boasts an impressive degree of originality seldom seen in similar offerings and remarkably being offered by just its second owner. With the added appeal of the V12, this Double-Six has aged gracefully from a high-speed executive transport into a usable classic ideally used for grand touring in serene style and comfort.
