Chassis No. 108.012.10.014524 Engine No. 108.920.10.009358 As noted on its original sales invoice, this exceptional 250 S was sold new by Garage SAP of Tielt, Flanders, Belgium, and purchased new by its original owner on 5 July 1966. Befitting the S-Class, the car was specified in Black (040) over a stunning Red MB-Tex interior. Over the next 24 years, the car was maintained to the highest level while its use remained limited. Never driving the car without gloves, they would turn around at the sight of rain to keep the car clean and dry. So fanatical about keeping the car as clean as possible, they even requested that the top part of the rear bumper be slightly raised by the dealer to make it easier to clean between the upper and lower part of the chrome. Additionally they requested a second fog light be added to the rear to bring a sense of symmetry to the singular one required by the Belgium government. Upon his passing in 1990, the car saw limited use by their son, with the last service recorded in June 1993. After this, the car remained tucked away in the garage under cover until 2021, when it was acquired by the current owner, only the car’s second registered owner from new. Taken by the car's impressive originality, and still wearing its original Belgian license plate, a comprehensive mechanical service after long period of dry storage began. This work was carried out by Miguel Vanluchene of Classic Car Garage that included restoring the Hydro-Pneumatic compensating spring, overhauling the cooling system, ignition system, fuel system, and brakes, along with servicing the engine with fresh fluids and filters, amounting to over €13.000 worth of work. As noted in a 2021 report on the car compiled by FSP SWD GmbH, as directed by TÜV Rheinland, the car remains in exceptional and highly original condition. It is believed that the entire car is still wearing its original, factory-applied Black paint. Furnished with the car is its original sales invoice, radio blanking plate, owner's manual, stamped service book, brochures, pouch and maps. As an exceptionally well-presenting example, it currently displays just 65,000 kilometers at the time of consignment and is surely among the finest original examples of the 250 S extant. An incredible find of a well-driven and high-preserved Mercedes which truly were engineered like no other car in the world.
