Engine No. 0445 In the immediate aftermath of World War II, former Royal Italian Air Force mechanic Ferruccio Lamborghini opened a car and motorcycle repair shop near Ferrara. In 1948, he pivoted to tractor manufacturing, initially using military surplus parts before progressing to his own designs with water-cooled MWM engines by 1952. Though only about 900 examples were produced, the DL25 was still one of Lamborghini’s best-selling early tractor models and the manufacturer’s first commercial success. By this time, Ferruccio had acquired the rights to produce MWM engines under the Lamborghini brand, making the DL25 the earliest vehicle equipped with the first-ever Lamborghini engine. Through the DL25 and its derivatives, Lamborghini Trattori S.P.A. established a greater foothold in the Italian farming industry. This success, along with an infamous run-in with Enzo Ferrari, fueled Lamborghini's entry into automobile manufacturing, erecting the foundations of The House of the Raging Bull that stand stronger than ever today. This 1955 Lamborghini DL25-N Tractor is a rare Narrow track example; one of approximately 60 examples produced. It was delivered new to Italy in 1955, finished in Rosso e Grigio (red with gray accents), and was first registered in Modena as confirmed by a copy of its libretto. This splendid example has been under the care of the one of the largest Lamborghini collections in Europe since 2023, and has been well-kept despite being over 70 years old. The rare tractor was recently restored in-house to (FLC) certification criteria at the cost of €31.700 in its original color combination, and retains its original Lamborghini 2.5-liter two-cylinder diesel engine and four-speed manual transmission according to its included FLC Certificato originale. Dott. Fabio Lamborghini, nephew of Ferruccio Lamborghini, is the current registered keeper and signed the tractor following its restoration—distinguishing this example even among collectors-grade Lamborghinis. No serious Lamborghini collection is complete without honoring Ferruccio’s industrial roots, and this 1955 DL25 checks all the boxes: a rare DL25 N variant finished in its factory correct colors, retaining its original drivetrain including the first motor produced in-house by Lamborghini, freshly restored to the highest standard with no expense spared, and registered to Dott. Fabio Lamborghini himself—it is perhaps the finest DL25 tractor extant.
