Chassis No. 1R26150 Engine No. 7R5026-9 Body No. 4R21388 Many a word has been written about the Jaguar E-Type’s stunning looks and how it wowed audiences at its sensational debut, and after more than sixty years, how its star power has hardly faded. Yet, the E-Type’s true genius lay in how Sir William Lyons developed his race-bred GT to a price point suitable for volume sales. In 1961, it boasted such exotic tech as a dual overhead cam engine, four-wheel disc brakes, four-wheel independent suspension, and semi-monocoque construction, yet it undercut some competitors by at least half. The E-Type was a world-class sports car accessible to a wide audience, and its appeal remains as broad as it was when it first shocked the crowds in Geneva. Finished Signal Red over a Black leather cabin, this splendid 1969 E-Type Series 2 Fixed Head Coupe is an incredibly well-preserved, unrestored car, offered from Serge Allaert’s “They Are Only Original Once” collection. It was first delivered in the spring of 1969 to a Swedish customer, equipped with chrome wire wheels, a heated rear screen, 3.31 rear axle, and seat belts. The first owners affectionately nicknamed it “Edgar” after its registration EDG 773. In the ensuing decades, Edgar enjoyed a cherished existence, fastidiously maintained in original condition, and its exceptional originality is what attracted Serge Allaert to add it to his collection in 2017. Wonderful details include richly broken-in black leather trim, a rarely seen British Leyland/Jaguar decal across the rear screen, correct Lucas headlamps, and Jaguar-branded rear splash guards. Any minor imperfections are worn with pride, enhancing this car’s honest charm. Following his acquisition of Edgar in 2017, Allaert had a fresh clutch fitted, and in 2024, invoices show over €13.000 in servicing by V-Performance. The accompanying history file includes the original Jaguar Export Sales factory, period and current service history, registration records, and Jaguar Club judging sheets documenting a top score of 98.5 points out of 100. Additionally, there is a copy of a 2017 inspection and appraisal report by FSP, which assigns the car a AAA originality score. A Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate confirms the as-delivered specifications and retention of the original engine block, cylinder head, and body. It is quite rare to encounter any E-Type in such marvelous original condition, particularly a Series 2, and the eminently charming Edgar is now ready for a new custodian to continue the legacy of preservation it has enjoyed since day one.
