Taking delivery on May 7th, 1987, Bruce Miles picked up his Black over Black 911 Carrera in Stuttgart, Germany. The 911 received its first oil change on September 21st, 1987 at the same Porsche dealership that Miles had ordered his car from in Palmouth, Massachusetts. Over the course of 27 years, the 911 Carrera accumulated just 22,744 miles since it was delivered in Stuttgart, with caretakers keeping it in excellent condition during this time. In September of 2014 the Carrera was offered for sale and did not take very long for the 911 to find its way to its most recent caretaker, a Porsche collector based in Austin, Texas. The Carrera remained with its most recent caretaker, a close friend of Bruce Canepa with a fantastic Porsche collection, for 11 years while receiving any maintenance or items needed during that time. This included fluid changes and flushes, fuel system servicing including a new fuel pump and filter, battery replacement, and most recently in April of 2025 a new set of tires were installed. From when they first acquired the Carrera, the caretaker added a mere 717 miles over 11 years. Evident of their level of care during their stewardship, the 911 presents as a car with half as many miles as you might expect. Upon arriving at Canepa, the 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera was thoroughly inspected as part of the “Canepa Difference” process, ensuring that all mechanical systems were sound and that all cosmetic surfaces were addressed and detailed to the highest level. The care from the recent caretaker plainly showed in the condition of the 911, from the all original leather interior to the all factory original black paint, and how the fit and finish doesn’t describe a 39 year old car but a much younger one. Regardless, the car was placed into Canepa’s system and the work began. The 911’s underside was completely cleaned by hand to a concours level, from top to bottom, ensuring that all surfaces were as clean as when the car was delivered, revealing the factory finishes were in like-new condition. Canepa refinished the heat exchangers, common items for any car that has seen driving miles over its lifetime. After being lowered back onto the ground, a multi-step foam pad polishing was performed by Canepa’s automotive artisans to carefully enhance the Porsche’s 100% original black paint. The all original interior was given the same attention to detail, and over the course of several weeks the car was ready entered into any concours event. One look at this 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera gives you a glimpse into what it must have been like to arrive at the Tourist Delivery center in Stuttgart and see the car for the first time. With its 100% original black on black combination, this 911 Carrera is truly one of the best combinations for the G-body Porsches. It's time to take home this 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera and start its next 39 years of time on the road, the concours lawn, or part of a generational collection. About the Porsche 911 Carrera The birth of the "G Series" 911, which was produced from 1974 until 1989, was the next evolution of the 911 and proved to be an incredible foundation. With the G series reintroducing worldwide classics like the Carrera, which shared the legendary Carrera RS engine, or the 930, the first turbocharged 911 streetcar, there was a bit of everything for everyone. Highly capable as a performance car and equally comfortable on long drives, the G series 911 has proved again that evolution is sometimes a good thing. 1984 marked the rebirth of the 3.2 Carrera name, having last been used by Porsche in 1977. Numerous upgrades were applied to the beloved 911 platform that made it even better to drive than before. A larger and more powerful 3.2-liter air cooled engine, larger brakes, and upgraded fuel and injection system components to name a few. Standard options were also upgraded, which included air conditioning, 5-speed manual transmissions, four-wheel independent suspension, fully integrated electronic ignition and fuel injection, and others.
