Chassis No. 3190196 Engine No. 3190196 Touring No. 15154 The Sunbeam Venezia was a rare and elegant collaboration between the Rootes Group and Milanese coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera. Introduced in 1963 amid the grandeur of Venice’s Piazza San Marco (the first time a car had ever set tire in the square), the Venezia carried the underpinnings of the four-seat Humber Sceptre in a sportier and more stylish package that was aimed at the Italian market. Touring sculpted the Venezia’s aluminum bodywork to be lighter and more aerodynamic than the Humber, which paired nicely with the Sceptre-derived 1.6-liter four-cylinder producing 88 horsepower through a four-speed manual transmission. Subtle yet meaningful interior revisions, ranging from reworked door structures to the redesigned front seats and dashboard with Italian Veglia instrumentation, gave the Venezia a distinctly Continental character. Sunbeam produced less than 200 Venezias between 1963 and 1965, either on the nearly identical Humber Sceptre or Hillman Super Minx chassis with fewer than 30 examples thought to survive today. Long residing in France and thought to have been delivered new there, this 1966 Sunbeam Venezia is finished in silver over a red interior. It emerges now from a respected collection of other extremely rare European classics, having been carefully stored for an extended period prior to its current offering. A Broad Arrow Car Specialist notes that although the car starts and runs smoothly, we would recommend a mechanical inspection and service following a lengthy period in dry storage. With so few examples remaining, the opportunity to acquire a Sunbeam Venezia is exceptionally rare—particularly one as preserved and inviting as this offering. This 1966 Sunbeam Venezia presents an exciting chance to own one of the most elusive Anglo-Italian sports cars of the 1960s, and is both a welcome and rare sight at any distinguished classic car event.
