Chassis No. ZA9EAGTR0YLA12481 Diablo GTR No. 11/30 Unveiled at the 1999 Bologna Motor Show, the Diablo GTR was Lamborghini’s most extreme, track-only finale for the Diablo era. It succeeded the SVR, which had contested the marque’s one-make Super Trofeo championship from 1996 through 1999, and arrived as Lamborghini’s latest factory-built customer racer based on the Diablo GT. Beneath its carbon fiber bodywork sat a 6.0-liter V12 rated at 590 CV, mated to a five-speed gated manual gearbox and a stripped-out interior with a single seat and an integrated roll cage. Renamed the GTR Super Trofeo for the 2000 season, the series offered identical machinery, close racing, and the unmistakable theater of naturally aspirated V12s at full song. With production limited to just 30 complete cars, the Diablo GTR remains among the rarest and most uncompromising customer racing Lamborghinis to date. According to research compiled by marque historian Olivier Nameche, chassis number YLA12481 was built at Sant’Agata Bolognese as the 11th of 30 GTRs. Delivered new to LeasePlan France, it was finished in Bianco Isis over a Nero interior and immediately went racing, contesting the 2000 Lamborghini GTR Super Trofeo. It then returned in 2001 leased by Team Mig Power and piloted by brothers Michele and Pietro Gianni, who secured the Super Trofeo Championship title at the final round in Valencia. In 2002, the car contested its final season of the GTR Super Trofeo, leased and driven by Denis Veyrat. By 2003, the car had joined Jonathan Abramczyk who entered it in the French GT Championship under the Autovitesse banner, and it also appeared the following year at the 2004 FIA GT Festival race in Bahrain. In later years it proved equally competitive in modern-historic competition, winning in 2008 in the GT90s Revival series at Dijon with Michel Mhitarian and finishing third in the 2009 Championship standings. After a decade of front-line competition, bodywork was restored between 2012 and 2014, and later the engine, gearbox, and clutch were fully serviced at 21,200 kilometers shown. Today, it wears an evocative graffiti livery by Swiss artist Saiff Vasarhelyi, an appropriately bold finish for Lamborghini’s most uncompromising customer racer.
