Estimated Price: £60,000 - £70,000
Introduced at the turn of the millennium, the 996 GT3 marked a defining moment for Porsche: a road-legal expression of its motorsport DNA, powered by the legendary Mezger flat-six and engineered with an uncompromising focus on driver engagement. Lightweight, naturally-aspirated and resolutely analogue, the Mk1 GT3 has since become one of the most revered modern 911s.
This particular example, a 1999 GT3 Gen 1, is both rare and highly desirable. Production was limited to just 1,868 cars worldwide, of which only 308 were right-hand drive. Merely 106 were supplied new to the UK with the coveted C16 country code and it is believed that just 16 of those were finished in this classic colour, making this a truly exceptional find.
Presented in that instantly recognisable and period-perfect hue, the Guards Red bodywork is complemented by the correct 18-inch two-piece Sport Design alloy wheels with grey centres, along with stainless-steel tailpipes that subtly underline the car’s motorsport intent. Purposeful yet understated, the aesthetic remains as compelling today as it was on launch.
Inside, the cabin has been thoughtfully specified and tastefully enhanced. Carbon fibre sports seats are paired with contrasting red seatbelts, creating a striking yet authentic GT3 ambience. Further highlights include the desirable Leather and Carbon package, incorporating black leather seats, dashboard and door cards, together with carbon fibre trim around the instruments and both centre consoles. Additional factory options include a CDR22 radio/CD player, climate control, trip computer, Porsche crests embossed into the headrests and a lower centre console with integrated CD storage.
Having covered just 35,000 miles from new, the car benefits from a comprehensive and well-documented service history. Recent expenditure includes a full suspension refresh with rebuilt Bilstein dampers and new bushings, new brake discs and pads all round, M&M silencers and an air-conditioning overhaul. The most recent service was carried out just 500 miles ago by respected Surrey-based independent Porsche specialists Nine Excellence, with earlier visits recorded in 2024, 2022 and 2021. The overall condition and maintenance history offer genuine reassurance to the next custodian.
This car was recently featured on 9Werks TV on YouTube in a comparison between both generations of 996 GT3. This is a rare opportunity to acquire one of the purest and most collectable modern 911s, presented in a standout specification and with the provenance to match.
