1967 Lotus Elan to Fast Road Sprint Specification
£19,000.00 | €21,964.55 | $25,206.52

Originally a 1967 Elan Fixedhead Coupe, this car has been extensively rebuilt into the high-performance example offered here. Purchased as an unfinished project two years ago, the current owner has worked through the car with the aim of preserving and enhancing it for both road and track use. Power is provided by a 1,650cc Twin Cam engine, producing approximately 160bhp at 8,000rpm. It benefits from a high-spec Cosworth and PF inlet cam package, including Cosworth valves, springs, caps, collets, cam followers, and ported, gas-flowed heads. The bottom end, built by Osselli, is safe to 8,000rpm, with Hepolite Powermax pistons, a sleeved and pressure-tested block, tuftrided and balanced crank, rods and flywheel, and a double-dowelled crank to a six-bolt flywheel. Ancillary components include an A.P. competition clutch, high-pressure oil pump, capacitor-discharge ignition, Powergrip-driven water pump and alternator, and Weber 40 DCOE carburettors with competition airbox.

Transmission is via a 2000E gearbox with magnesium bell housing, paired with a 3.76:1 'Sprint' differential and rebalanced prop shaft. The B.R.D steel drive-shaft conversion features sliding splines and double U-joints. Braking is managed with overhauled calipers, new discs, stainless-steel pistons, braided lines, and Ferodo DS11 competition pads. Suspension benefits from a Spyder spaceframe with adjustable gas shocks, double-wishbone rear suspension, and competition anti-roll bars front and rear.

The body is an Elan S3 convertible, extensively modified with front and rear spoilers, flared arches, blended bumpers, and S4-style rear lights. Sundym green-tinted windscreen, leather steering wheel, mahogany gear knob, full-harness seat belts, and a Safety Devices roll-over bar complete the interior. Extensive rewiring, a new fuse box, and new seals throughout ensure a tidy, functional finish.

With its high-spec engine, advanced chassis, and race-inspired features, this Elan is perfectly suited to both spirited road use and track events, representing a rare opportunity to acquire a fully rebuilt, performance-oriented classic ready for enjoyment and further development. A few recommended jobs remain, including finalising the electric window relays, fitting the roof to its frame, installing the rear race roll bar, and a rolling-road setup to optimise performance. It currently sits on wide Wolfrace wheels, though a set of Minilite style wheels are also supplied. Supplied to auction with a V5 registration document, MoT test certificate valid until November 2026 and a history file containing many invoices and information on the specification and build.
