In an unusual move from Lamborghini's Centro Stile division, the 2021 Monterey Car Week saw the forward-thinking design studio indulge in nostalgia with the unveiling of the Countach LPI 800-4. A stunning modern interpretation of the seminal 1970s supercar, the limited-production LPI 800-4 paid homage to the original while showcasing the company's latest technological underpinnings.

Based on the Aventador's carbon fiber architecture, the LPI 800-4 employed a state-of-the-art hybrid powertrain pairing the Aventador's glorious naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine producing 780 CV with a 34-CV 48-volt electric motor. The innovative system, similar to that used in the Sián hypercar, utilized a supercapacitor rather than a conventional lithium-ion battery, resulting in a total output of 814 CV while offering optimal efficiency and weight savings. This exceptional powerplant delivered hypercar levels of performance-zero to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 355 km/h-accompanied by an intense, metallic-tinged V12 soundtrack.

The exterior design, led by Mitja Borkert, captured the essence of its predecessor through thoughtfully incorporated heritage elements. The clean, wedge-shaped carbon fiber body featured distinctive touches like pentagonal wheel arches housing staggered 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels, prominent NACA air intakes, and a glazed roof panel that referenced the periscope system of early Countach models. The launch color, Bianco Siderale, featured a distinctive blue pearlescent finish, paying homage to Ferruccio Lamborghini's personal Countach LP 400 S.

The interior married classic Countach design motifs, like geometric stitching and square-section seat inserts, with modern Lamborghini luxury appointments including an 8.4-inch touchscreen complete with Apple CarPlay. In contrast to the tight cabin of the original Countach, the LPI 800-4 incorporated a photochromic glass roof panel that could be lightened at the touch of a button for a spacious, airy feel. Limited to just 112 units worldwide, reflecting the original car's internal ''LP 112'' designation, the entire production run was quickly spoken for.

This 2022 Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 is one of approximately five examples finished in Luci del Bosco, a stunning shade of brown inherited from the original Countach. Its finish is thoughtfully complemented by matte bronze wheels, engine components, and “Countach” badges, along with black brake calipers. This Countach further distinguishes itself as the only example of the handful of Luci del Bosco-clad cars featuring a Bianco Leda interior; an exclusive Lamborghini Ad Personam option. Bronze stitching accentuates the seats while Nero Ade accents thoughtfully cover the carpets, floor mats, and seatbelts. It is further equipped with the Carbon Pack, with exposed carbon fiber accents tastefully on display both inside and out.

This example was ordered new via Lamborghini Hamburg and was first registered to its original owner on 22 March 2024. Such a sensationally specified example was quickly noticed by the consignor, a local curator of some of the finest and most exclusive collector cars in all of Germany. The consignor purchased the retro hypercar through Lamborghini Stuttgart that October with approximately 110 kilometers accumulated and has kept it in like-new condition ever since. This 2022 Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 now shows just 127 kilometers at cataloging and is furnished with the Lamborghini tool kit, Lamborghini branded soft car cover, and a three-piece first aid kit.

The rebirth of the Countach ushered in a bold new chapter for Lamborghini: one that celebrates its own mythology while honoring the car that defined an entire generation of supercar enthusiasts. Though the original Countach was famously uncompromising to drive, its 21st century successor extracts and clarifies that raw spirit into a fully realized, contemporary hypercar package that is eminently more usable while remaining as forward-thinking as the original. Yet, the Countach LPI 800-4 surpasses the performance enthusiasts fantasized about for the original Countach; a fighter jet on four wheels. Finished in the rare shade of Luci del Bosco, specified with exceptional care and intent, and boasting remarkably low mileage, this example is indeed one of the finest on offer.
