This example, in dark blue metallic, was produced for the South African market. Acquired by a South African owner in 2021, it was treated to a comprehensive programme of improvements, including an engine rebuild with new camshafts and pistons, a rebuilt cylinder head, a full repaint and the installation of a leather interior in place of the original vinyl. Suspension and brake upgrades followed, along with the fitment of a Harvey Bailey-designed Classic Alfa handling kit in 2022. That same year, the car competed in the inaugural Cape 1000 rally, covering 1,000 miles over four days and finishing second in class, later featuring in Octane magazine and various online coverage. It also achieved first in class at an Alfa Romeo South Africa concours event and took part in the Distinguished Gentleman's Drive. Although it retired from the 2023 Cape 1000 with an alternator issue, this was subsequently rectified shortly thereafter.
Imported to the UK in 2024 by the current owner, with all duties paid and UK registration completed, the car has seen limited use since it's arrival. Prior to sale it has just been recommissioned by a local restoration specialist, including renewal of ignition components, refurbishment of the Dellorto carburettors and subsequent tuning, leaving this well-sorted and event-proven 2000 GTV ready for its next chapter.
