1968 Land Rover Series II A 109"
Price on request

Often described as 'the first car most of the world ever saw', the Land Rover Series II remains one of the most iconic and collectible classic 4x4s ever built. PGA 778F left the Land Rover production line at Solihull in March 1968 and was first registered on 11th April that year. After passing through 12 keepers and eventually being discovered abandoned, it was rescued and treated to a comprehensive body-off, nut-and-bolt restoration in 2021. Original parts and trim were retained wherever possible, and a detailed paper trail of invoices and photographs documents the transformation.

Inside, the cabin is true to the Series II's famously spartan character but presented in smart, freshly resprayed condition. Many original interior elements were preserved, while upgrades include three more supportive Deluxe vinyl front seats, new door rubbers and two brand-new rear side bench seats set over a practical rubber-matted floor. Everything functions as intended. The exterior is finished to a high standard in period-correct Marine Blue. Brand-new lights, lenses and a wiring loom ensure reliable electrics, while the original steel wheels, painted cream, are fitted with new Michelin 4x4 O/R XZL tyres. Panels, sills, bumper and valances all present blemish-free following the full restoration.

Mechanically, the 2.25 litre diesel engine, four-speed gearbox, transfer box, axles, differentials, brakes, steering, clutch and suspension have all been rebuilt. The engine starts readily and runs smoothly, with the drivetrain performing as intended. The galvanised and powder-coated chassis and bulkhead, along with a clean engine bay and underside, underscore the thoroughness of the rebuild. Tax and MoT exempt by age yet supplied with a new MoT test certificate, this beautifully restored Series II represents a rare opportunity to acquire an enduring symbol of British engineering and adventure.
