The Mercedes-Benz G-Class or G-Wagon (short for Gelandewagen, or cross-country vehicle) is characterised by its boxy styling and body-on-frame construction. It uses three fully locking differentials, one of the few vehicles to have such a feature. The G-Class is still in production and is one of the longest produced models in Mercedes Benz's, history with a span of 32 years. It was developed as a military vehicle from a suggestion by the Shah of Iran and offered as a civilian version in 1979. The first major refinements were introduced in 1981, including an automatic transmission, air conditioning, an auxiliary fuel tank, protective headlamp grilles and a cable winch. Fuel injection became available in 1982 when the 230 GE was introduced in Turin, along with more comfortable and supportive front seats, auxiliary heating, wider tyres and wheel arches. For 1985, differential locks, central door locking and a tachometer became standard.

Showing only two former keepers the Mercedes-Benz 300 GD on offer here was first registered on 22nd December 1992. Well-maintained and supplied with 16 past MoT test certificates as well as its original handbook, this example has barely been run-in for a diesel G-Wagon, at a mere 108,500 miles. A rare sports model, it boasts deep bolstered front seats and stiffer suspension. Whilst the Almandine paint on the car would benefit from some attention, the mechanics and interior are in excellent order. Indeed, the vendor reports that the vehicle runs and drives very well.
