Born from Porsche's post-996 GT3 “solution meeting,” the first watercooled 911 GT2 emerged as a fusion of the GT3's rear-wheel drive chassis and the turbocharged powerplant of the contemporary Turbo. Its 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six delivered an astounding 462 PS-a 42 PS gain over the Turbo-paired with roughly 100 kilograms in weight savings and bespoke aerodynamics, including Porsche's first production front bumper/hood-top air outlet. The GT2 also became the first Porsche to feature Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) as standard equipment-three years before the Carrera GT super sportscar.
This performance came at a price: while the Turbo listed at 237.250 DM and the GT3 at 179.500 DM, the GT2 commanded 339.001 DM, before options. Its uncompromising, untamed character earned it the nickname “Witwenmacher,” or Widow Maker, a reputation that Hartmut Kristen, then Vice President of the Porsche Research and Development Center at Weissach and architect of the original GT2, summarized in an interview with 000 Magazine: ''The 996 GT2 and 996 GT3 were, more or less, the last cars that I would call 'real cars' because, besides ABS, there were no electronic helpers involved.''
Completed for the German market, this first 996.1-generation GT2 was delivered via Porsche Zentrum Kiel on 2 November 2001, with its service booklet recording just 55 km at the time of delivery. Finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a full Black leather interior, it was further specified with a full leather center console, shown on the option sticker as code XMF. Early care was entrusted to Podium Racing (formerly Porsche Motorsport Sweden), with subsequent routine maintenance being logged by other Swedish Porsche specialists, including Porsche Center Borås (25,600 km, 45,447 km), Callisma (32,728 km), and Porsche Service Center Östermalm (37,388). A later documented service shows that the GT2 returned to Germany, visiting Sportwagenzentrum Osnabrück in January 2015 at 47,652 km.
Today, this well-maintained example of Porsche's ultimate road-going 911 variant at the turn of the millennium is offered with 54,136 km, accompanied by its stamped service book, owner's literature, and German registration papers.
