With their low profiles, lengthy wheelbases and ornate displays of chrome, the luxury coupes of the early '70s were certainly a stylish bunch, but this 1973 Lincoln Continental Mark IV takes that collective style to a whole new level. Wearing its original colors both inside and out, it immediately captures your attention and doesn't let it go. Its high-impact original black paint still carries a nice shine and the accompanying black vinyl top, a signature styling feature of the Mark IV, is in downright excellent shape, with its snug fit and tight stitching completely intact.

Climb inside, lower yourself into the comfortably padded driver's seat and you'll be surrounded by a correct ginger-colored leather interior that absolutely radiates vintage style. There's just so much to like inside these doors, including the tuck and roll seating both fore and aft, the intricate and well-fitted door panels and the plush carpeting lining the floor. The interior components still retain their deep pigmentation and show very little wear and the faux wood paneling on the dash area look about as fresh as it did when this cruiser first rolled off the assembly line. The instrument panel hosts an assembly of clear factory gauges and both the power seats and door locks function as intended. Even the featured Cartier clock, as well as the original AM/FM/Cassette/8-Track, are in good working condition. The air conditioning is functional but will need at least a recharging to blow cold.

Just a brief session behind the wheel will be all that's necessary to convince you that this stylish coupe is still in great operating condition. Powered by its original 460-cubic-inch V8 that's fed by a factory-correct four-barrel carburetor and does a good job of filling the expansive engine compartment, it starts up without hesitation, idles smoothly, and pulls with enough vigor to put a smile on your face. The power steering is surprisingly precise, making navigation nice and easy, and this vintage Lincoln tracks without wandering as its power brakes bring it to a stop with minimal effort. A look around the engine bay reveals that the firewall, inner fenders and radiator support, as well as the undercarriage, are structurally solid and ready for many more miles of service.
