Aston Martin launched the V8 Volante in June 1978 in response to the growing demand for a convertible version. The V8 Volante remained in production for 11 years, evolving with engineering upgrades while retaining its iconic, muscular character thanks to Tadek Marek's renowned 5.3-liter V8. The most notable changes occurred in 1986, when the model received Weber/Marelli electronic fuel injection and a streamlined flat bonnet, giving the car improved aerodynamics.
This 1987 Aston Martin V8 Volante is finished as new in Dark Blue Vanden Plas with a blue soft top. Its Grey Connolly leather upholstery with Wilton carpeting is accentuated with Dark Blue piping and the car is equipped with the desirable ZF five-speed manual transmission. This left-hand drive example was delivered new in Stuttgart, Germany through British marque dealership Merz & Pabst, and was first registered on 13 May 1987 according to its included Aston Martin Certificate of Origin.
It remained with its original owner for almost two decades, who confirmed in email exchanges that they enjoyed the car for the majority of its mileage, covering 40,000 kilometers. Further correspondence shows just a handful of caretakers, all of whom knew the original owner, before the car passed to the French consignor in 2015. A sizable file of service invoices records detailed maintenance from the 1990s to today accompany the car, with the last service performed in May 2025 by British car specialists London Garage in Dijon.
Stunningly specified and furnished with a meticulous trail of ownership and maintenance records, this 1987 V8 Volante stands apart among Aston's long line of muscular yet impeccably refined open-top grand tourers.
