The Yamaha YZF-R1 (5JJ model) is a refined, second-generation litre-class sportbike, featuring over 150 changes from the original 1998-1999 model to improve rideability and performance. It produced a claimed 149-150 hp from its 998cc 5-valve per cylinder engine, with a 2kg weight reduction, sharper styling, revised carburetion, and improved handling. It is considered a ‘collectible’, raw, and highly influential sportbike.
A good solid example of the highly sought after R1 with some little modifications. The bike is fitted with the Yoshimura RS-3 exhaust which has been dyno’d to suit. The bike has various crash protectors and carbon frame covers, which easily detach to cover a nice clean frame. The original undertray is intact and uncut, we have the standard exhaust and levers. Two keys are present along with the original owner’s manual and service book. The bike has been sat in a heated room on display so will require a recommission, possibly a battery and MOT.
