Supplied new by Davenport Vernon Vauxhall in High Wycombe, this rare SRi is finished in metallic maroon with the requisite red sports piping, SRi badging and alloy wheels. The overall look is impressive and it is pleasing to see a lack of aftermarket items as used to be the order of the day.

The paintwork appears even and free of major marks - it certainly looks the part - and the look is complemented by the correct alloys shod in matching Hankook tyres. The Cavalier sports a new Piper full cat back silencer fitted last year at a cost of circa £500 - the original is included in the boot. The present owner has also had an immobilser fitted - a useful upgrade.

The interior is just as tidy as the exterior. The seats are free from major wear and the plastics appear in good condition. There is an aftermarket JVC stereo and matching over mats also feature.

These ‘Red Top’ SRis have become increasingly rare in the last few decades with less than 50 examples believed to be left on UK roads.

This sporty Vauxhall starts on the button and was used very sparingly by its current owner, who searched for a period of 12 months before buying it. His patience paid off in May 2024 when he found this very nice family owned from new example for sale in Colchester.

With only 2 former keepers and 85,000 miles on the odometer, this Cavalier has evidently been cherished throughout its life judging by its condition.
