Whilst this Triumph may look like a standard mid-1950s TR2, underneath it is very different story!

It has been tastefully ‘resto modded’ with the fitment of a 2-litre Volvo B200 engine from the mid-80s - with the bonus of fuel injection and a 5-speed gearbox.

The TR2 has been resprayed in the last 12 months in a very fetching shade of Old English White, and the interior has been retrimmed by way of new black leather seats, door cards and new carpets. An upgraded dash is also fitted with new gauges, and very natty Brooklands screens on both the passenger and driver’s side also feature. A custom exhaust is fitted, which sounds great, together with recently refurbished wire wheels fitted with new Continental tyres and spinners. The TR2 also has a super period look boot rack.

The vendor tells us that he has fitted a new internal boot mounted petrol tank / fuel cell, together with a new fuel pump and new fuel lines. In addition, we understand that electrics have been gone through, and brakes overhauled.

A fabric roof is fitted, although this will only work once the full windscreen its fitted - this latter item is included although new stanchions / bracketry will need to be sourced for the windscreen.

We have the original buff logbook plus the latest and some previous V5Cs - the TR is still showing as blue on the DVLA records (it was previously red and originally white when first manufactured) - plus photographs of the recent paint restoration. It is believed it was treated to new sills and floor pans in the 2010s. The are also receipts for recent work plus an old MOT certificate from 1973 and a CD of TR Register Technicalities information.

The owner advises us the Triumph drives as it should, although if he was to keep it, he would look in to upgrading the brakes to a more modern set up in place of the existing drums.

The TR2 comes with a small number of parts (windscreen, wheel hub, bearing, spare bulbs, clocks, some trim) plus some spare paint.

Sensibly reserved, this is a very smart British classic with the bonus of being far more suited to modern day roads and traffic than a standard example.
