1994 saw the final itineration of the Reliant Sabre. A compact and lightweight British roadster weighing in at svelte 840kg. Featuring rear wheel drive, a five-speed gearbox and independent suspension, it was a good handling car.
Presented in bright azure blue with body coloured bumpers and wide arches, this rare Reliant Sabre sports superb black upholstery with a matching hood, tonneau cover and wind deflector.
This Sabre has been subtly and beneficially upgraded to a 1600cc Ford CVH engine and clutch. The engine is fitted with a Stage 1 Fast Road camshaft with vernier adjusted valve timing, and is fed by a Webber twin choke carburettor. Making the most of the engine, a custom made stainless steel exhaust system has been fitted along with a 4-branch manifold to aid exhaust extraction and boost power.
Other recent work includes Spax fully adjustable suspension front and rear. new alloy radiator, heater matrix and hoses. The headlamp and wiper motors have also been reconditioned.
On the inside, the seats are in superb condition with no obvious wear to the side bolsters, as might be expected from the age, and the rest of the interior presents in equally fantastic condition.
The Sabre has been in the vendor’s ownership since 2022 and is accompanied by a comprehensive history file, including maintenance invoices, the original book pack and a stack of MOT documentation. The MOT history shows all but three first time passes in the last 20 years with just some minor advisories noted along the way. The mileage is documented through the MOT history up to 47,591 miles in June 2023, after which a replacement speedo and cable were fitted to rectify a fault in the original. The 2024 MOT states 1,016 miles, the June 2025 MOT 1,564 miles and the odometer now shows 1,690 miles. Combined with the healthy stack of maintenance invoices, it has obviously been cared for by its previous owners.
The Sabre was driven to our premises and displayed no apparent mechanical issues. Moving around our site, it has started first time, every time and sounds lovely with its custom exhaust.
This rare Reliant Sabre represents a very presentable and useable classic.
