The BMW Z3 is a compact roadster introduced by BMW in 1995 as part of the brand’s push to revive classic two-seat sports cars. Built at BMW’s new factory in Spartanburg, the Z3 was the first BMW model manufactured in the United States. It gained worldwide attention even before its release when it appeared in the GoldenEye movie driven by James Bond. The car featured retro styling inspired by the classic BMW 507 and was offered with a range of four- and six-cylinder engines, including high-performance versions developed by BMW M such as the Z3 M Roadster and M Coupe. Production ran until 2002, when it was replaced by the BMW Z4, but the Z3 remains popular among enthusiasts for its distinctive design and role in reviving BMW’s modern roadster lineup.
We are delighted to offer this BMW Z3 1.9 Fiji Edition in Fiji Green with blue leather interior. First registered in March 1999, it has had 5 former keepers. Whilst not strictly a limited edition, the Fiji Edition was a UK-only special of which only a few hundred examples were produced. Twenty seven years on, this makes it a very rare car.
In a sea of black, grey and silver cars this little green Z3 is a breath of fresh air. The vivid paint presents really well and the vendor has just had the boot resprayed to deal with some lacquer peel before sale – an indication of his eye for detail. The blue hood matches the leather of the seats and looks to be pretty new, with a clear plastic screen free of any milkiness. The car sits on genuine BMW 17” five spoke alloys which fill the arches and appear to have been recently refurbished. The cabin presents beautifully, with good plastics and benefitting from the chrome pack to lift the ambience. The leather seats are heated with electric adjustment and trimmed in a lovely shade of blue, piped in green to match the paintwork. They appear free from any obvious rips and tears and have just a gentle patina which belies the BMW’s age. The dash is unmodified and it’s pleasing to see the original radio cassette remains in place, supplemented with a boot-mounted CD changer. The fabric wind deflector is always a handy thing to have for those top down days.
The Z3 comes with V5C, some old registration documents, some old MOTs, a bundle of invoices for parts and maintenance, a bundle of BMW health check sheets, service book and a handbook.
We’ve had some fabulous coloured Z3s here at Manor Park Classics in recent months but this striking Fiji model could be the best yet. A special edition that melds stand out looks with high specification, it makes for fantastic modern classic. The icing on the cake is that this car has clearly been cherished and presents as a far younger car.
