The Ford Escort was revised in January 1995 as the MkVI, although it was still based on the previous model. This version had new front lights, bonnet, front wings, front and rear bumpers, wing mirrors, door handles and 4 different front radiator grilles. The RS2000 model ceased production in June 1996 – they were the last Escorts ever to wear the famous RS badge. The RS badge did not resurface until the Focus RS arrived in 2002.
A 1995 Ford Escort RS2000, ‘N322 JGP’ was first registered on 6th October 1995. Finished in the very distinctive Aubergine paint colour, one of the prettiest Ford Escort liveries of the ‘90s, the shade suits the car well and still presents nicely today. Powered by a 1998cc in-line-4 engine, reportedly offering 150bhp, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, this RS2000 is described as a very original example of the model. The interior also presents well for its years.
The current owner has had the car since 2nd September 2014, marking around eleven years of continuous custodianship. The Escort is offered with an MOT valid until February 2027, going some way to providing some peace of mind for the next custodian.
A selection of maintenance history accompanies the car. This includes a service invoice from 2012 at 38,011 miles and another from 2022 at 96,883 miles. In addition, there are several invoices documenting significant work carried out. A major invoice from 2017 totalling £1,389.54 details the strip down and removal of the interior, cutting-out corrosion, fabrication of a new floorpan and sill sections, replacement of the offside front inner wing, and subsequent refitting of the interior after protective treatment. Another invoice from 2019 amounting to £3,480 covers further welding along with paint and materials.
The paperwork file includes previous MOT certificates, historic tax discs, the owner’s handbook, the current MOT certificate, and a handful of service and repair invoices.
