The Porsche 911 represents a defining moment in the evolution of one of the most iconic sportscars ever built. Part of the 'G-Series' generation introduced in 1974, the '77 model combined classic 911 styling with important safety and performance updates that reflected changing automotive standards of the era. Visually, it retained the unmistakable silhouette first penned in the 1960s, rounded headlights, a sloping rear, and compact proportions, but incorporated impact bumpers to meet stricter regulations. These rubber-trimmed bumpers became a signature feature of mid-1970s 911s, blending function with a rugged aesthetic. Under the rear engine lid, the 911 typically housed a 2.7 litre flat-six engine. Driving a 911 is often described as raw and engaging. The unassisted steering, mechanical gearbox, and distinctive weight distribution demand skill but reward the driver with unmatched feedback and character. It's a car that feels alive in your hands. Today, the 911 is appreciated by enthusiasts and collectors alike, well-maintained examples are increasingly valued.
Originally registered on 25th February 1977, this Porsche was purchased by the vendors late father on 15th June 1990 from Ashworth Services in Worcester Park. Having always wanted a Guards Red 911, he had the colour changed from what is thought to be Sienna Metallic to Guards Red. The car was highly cherished and used very sparingly until it was taken off the road in the mid 90's. The last MoT expired on 31st March 1996 and the last time this Porsche was taxed was in October 1995. Having been stored in a dry, secure, carpeted and heated garage for the last 30 years, this 911 Coupe has stood the test of time pretty well. To be expected though, it is in need of a full restoration, although the 2.7 litre engine appears to turn freely. Unfortunately, the majority of the paperwork has been mislaid, although we do have a V5 registration document. A Porsche 911 Coupe is a great car and with a five-speed gearbox, it will capture the spirit of analogue driving in its purest form. Consigned by Stewart Banks.
