So rarely do cars come along that capture the imagination of the world, but the humble Land Rover seemed to do just that with flying colours. Following 67 years in production, Land Rover called time on the Defender in 2015 and to mark the occasion, they launched the Heritage Series before production fully ceased in January 2016, a fitting tribute to the original 1948 Series I.

The Heritage Edition had a whole host of upgrades as standard including heated seats, Bluetooth, electric windows and heated front and rear screens and, inevitably, as with almost all final-edition cars, the Heritage Edition Defenders sold almost immediately with many being tucked away in Collections never to be seen again. Thankfully, there is a booming sub-market for used Land Rovers to be upgraded, having had a second breath of life put into them and sometimes turned into 'Heritage Tribute' cars like this one.

This exceptional Land Rover Defender 90 Heritage Edition tribute was created by Vitesse Global Ltd., the universally respected builders of bespoke homages to the original series Land Rover Defenders. As a donor vehicle, Vitesse Global sourced the best Defender 90 Pick-up they could find which importantly featured the desirable 2.4 TDCi engine having covered only 44,000 miles with a comprehensive service record and MOT test history. The recreation was started in 2021 with only three major changes externally with the spare wheel now being tailgate mounted, windows to the rear side panels and a galvanised front bumper. Naturally, it was finished in Grasmere Green with small black badges marked 'HUE 166' as a nod to the very first Land Rover.

The bespoke interior provides luxury seating with a matching occasional rear bench all finished in Cordings of Piccadilly tweed and Sage Green Italian leather and the specification is further enhanced with electric windows, heated seats and Sony Radio/CD with Bluetooth connectivity and separate USB port. Its also fitted with heavy-duty steering arms to cope with the larger wheels and tyres. Besides the full soft-top it's also supplied with a ‘Bimini’ hood that when fitted covers just the front seats, perfect for the summer months, a roll cage, grab rails and the occasional rear bench seat makes it a versatile people carrier with the option for removal at events/social gatherings or as a workhorse.

Offering so much more than nostalgia, this low mileage, user-friendly Defender 90 Heritage tribute in stunning condition would be welcome anywhere.
