This beautifully restored matching numbers example of the iconic 190 SL is presented in a light blue with contrasting black hood, white hardtop roof and beautifully retrimmed blue leather interior. Commissioned by our vendor, who has owned the car since 2014, to be fully restored by a leading restorer in Europe for which there is a photographic record of the process explaining all works in detail, a no expense spared program followed and was completed in 2016 culminating in the finished article we have here. The engine boasts twin Webers and was rebuilt during restoration. The detailed period dashboard is a stunning place to be, the glovebox has an inset clock and the chromework is excellent. Ultimately, the Mercedes-Benz 190 SL stands as a car that embodied the glamour of postwar Europe and the growing international reputation of Mercedes-Benz. It wasn't the fastest sportscar of its time, but it delivered style, quality, and everyday usability, making it an enduring classic and a cornerstone of Mercedes-Benz's rich heritage in open-top motoring, this example is amongst the very best found on the market today.
