Restored in 2005, the decision was made at the time to upgrade this car significantly to make it more at ease with modern roads. The engine was replaced with a rebuilt five bearing 1868cc MGB unit that is fitted with a Perter Burgess Stage two cylinder head, 45 DCOE Weber carburettor, Piper BP270 camshaft, fully lightened and balanced flywheel, 13 row oil cooler, Kenlowe fan, Lumenition electronic ignition, LCB exhaust manifold and twin exit silencer, all of which were set up on a rolling road by Peter Baldwin. The gearbox has also been upgraded with a five speed Ford Type-9 unit enabling high speed cruising in comfort, also boasting a quick shift kit. The brakes and suspension have also been revised with discs brakes fitted to the front of the car as well as Goodridge braided brake hoses, uprated front lever arm suspension and Koni rear shocks as well as poly bushings fitted all round all shod with 60 spoke competition wheels. The car was fully retrimmed and fitted with more comfortable Richfield Long seats. The body was stripped to bare metal before being repainted in Chariot Red after the front and rear wings were replaced, as were the sills, nose cone and shroud. Aluminium panels were used to replace the boot lid, door skins and louvred bonnet. Described by the vendor to run and drive extremely well, this car is now only for sale due to him struggling to get in and out of it. A fantastic example of one of the prettiest automotive designs, that is upgraded with regular and spirited use in mind. Consigned by Will Penrose
