The Omori Factory at NISMO has long championed a unique philosophy: to restore classic GT‑R vehicles not only in appearance but in visible, tangible performance-true “NISMO restored cars.” Each project blends rigorous engineering precision with motorsports heritage, enhancing these legendary machines on every measurable front.
If the donor GT-R meets the exemplary standards expected by NISMO and is selected for factory restoration, the car is completely disassembled before the Omori team inspects the unibody, measures torsional rigidity, and applies new sealant. As part of the project, the owner is offered a nearly endless array of custom color options along with a choice to refinish the car in its originally applied hue. Under the hood, the engine is meticulously overhauled-completely stripped, cleaned, and balanced. Owners can opt for upgraded NISMO tuning specs for elevated performance before the rebuild that sees the straight-six engine bench-tested at varied rpm ranges. The drivetrain, brakes, and suspension are similarly refreshed often with the finest modern high-performance parts from Öhlins, Brembo, RAYS, and of course NISMO themselves. After nearly a year of painstaking work, a NISMO test driver validates chassis dynamics, ride comfort, and road manners to ensure exemplary performance.
The result is a contradiction in terms. NISMO's Clubman Race Spec GT-R is a brand new factory-built masterpiece yet limited production and vintage at the same time. Simply, it is a GT-R that not only looks showroom-fresh but delivers the visceral, precise feel of a modern performance car embodied with factory-level consistency.
It is believed that since NISMO began their CRS restoration program in 2013 there have been fewer than 20 GT-Rs reborn as a Clubman Race Spec-a total strikingly similar to the 19 elusive R34 Z-tunes produced. Such is the pride in selection of the base vehicle and of course the cost and dedication expected of the client.
The canvas for such a highly-regarded restoration at the Omori Factory must already be exquisite, and the example offered here delivers. It began life as a 16,000-kilometer 2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R M-Spec; the most luxurious GT-R trim available and one of just 366 produced.
After a full year and a complete nut and bolt restoration, the fully converted CRS emerged from the Omori Factory in July 2022 with a host of transformative enhancements. Headlining its upgrades is the installation of the NISMO 2.8-liter F-Sport R motor, a fully rebuilt inline-six that produces 500 PS. Designed as NISMO's ultimate performance upgrade, just five F-Sport R engines were originally planned to be built, with the sixth and final motor being specially made for this example. The full catalog of available NISMO parts were reportedly installed, highlights of which include new NISMO dampers, suspension links, intake collector, sports radiator, reinforced timing belt and a Weldina NE-1 muffler kit.
The GT-R's cosmetics have been enhanced with a delicate selection of NISMO components coupled with an R-Tune carbon hood, NISMO Omori Spec LMGT4 forged aluminum wheels by RAYS hiding R35 GT-R Brembo brakes, and Z-Tune bodywork including a front bumper, front fender kit, and side skirts. New headlights were installed as part of the refresh but the original, distinctive taillights were kept. To complete the GT-R's aggressive new aesthetics, the Omori Factory repainted the car from its original QX1 Pearl White to Gunmetal (KAD); an official CRS color that recalls the quintessential finish of its forebear-the R32 GT-R. Unique Omori Factory badges and plaques are featured prominently on the exterior flanks and in the engine bay, further authenticating this car as a full, NISMO-sanctioned CRS conversion.
So immaculate was the original donor car's interior that the decision was made to keep the cockpit largely untouched; retaining the original steering wheel and signature black leather bucket seats with gold stitching to keep with the M-Spec's soft focus on luxury and comfort. It does however feature a new NISMO multi-function display, NISMO shift knob, and the highly desirable NISMO cluster-which is exceedingly rare and no longer manufactured.
This example's clean CarVX Report indicates that this GT-R M-Spec was manufactured July 2002 and sold to its first owner the following month. A sales invoice shows that the car was purchased new from Nissan Prince Sales Co. Nabari Store in the Mie Prefecture, where it was primarily serviced and inspected. It was auctioned in October 2020 in Chiba with 15,900 kilometers and the last recorded Japanese registration was documented in July 2022 in the city of Komaki. Now thoroughly restored and fresh from the Omori Factory, the CRS was purchased by the U.K.-based consignor that year; joining a standout collection of R34 GT-Rs.
Having covered only 262 kilometers since its metamorphosis through the Clubman Race Spec program, this 2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R CRS by NISMO is now primed to enhance even the most impressive and well-curated collections of Japanese cars. It is furnished with an exhaustive history file containing copies of its owner's manuals and service invoices from new-in addition to warranty certificates, instructions, or other supplementary literature for its roster of factory-installed components.
While NISMO continues to offer its catalog of performance parts to enthusiasts worldwide, only a select few GT-Rs have been allowed to return to the mythical Omori Factory and profit from the comprehensive CRS program. This example-amply equipped with a formidable array of Nissan's finest components from the F-Sport motor to its Z-Tune and R-Tune bodywork-is as adept carving the Nürburgring where the GT-R earned its legend as it is devouring serpentine roads from the Stelvio Pass to Mount Haruna, and simply commanding attention at Europe's most celebrated gatherings of Japanese performance machinery.
