Delivered new on 1st June 1982 by Heron Rossleigh, Edinburgh. This 4.2 litre XJ6 has a good history file with 21 old MoT test certificates that go back to 1987 when the milage recorded was 10,785. The current MoT test certificate valid until May 2027 suggests the current milage of circa 72,850 appears genuine.

In good running order, the car had a service on 25th June 2024 which also included an overhaul of the brakes and new front ball joints, more recently the car has had an overhaul of the rear suspension including new shock absorbers, springs and handbrake pads, while the front wheels have new bearings fitted. The body work remains good and solid but there are some areas that need attention as there is some surface corrosion, the interior is generally good for the age. This is a nice honest example that drives great.

The straight six 4.2 litre XJ is probably the easiest to maintain, smooth and powerful with comfort and refinement that was the pinnacle of a British built luxury car in the 1980's, the Series III being the last of the original design. A vastly underrated classic saloon car they are becoming a rare sight now, this is a great example, supplied with a good history file that includes a stamped service history and its original factory handbook pack, bills for previous maintenance plus the bills for the recent work, a new battery and new MoT test certificate until May 2027.
