The Mercedes-Benz 230SL (W113) remains one of the marque’s most enduring and elegant sports cars, combining refined touring capability with Paul Bracq’s distinctive ‘Pagoda’ styling. Introduced in 1963, the W113 successfully bridged the gap between the more overtly sporting 190SL and the larger grand touring models that followed, earning a reputation for quality engineering, usability and understated sophistication.

This 1967 example is an original right-hand drive car, finished in its correct factory colour of Silver Grey Metallic (colour code 180G) with a black interior. Registered in the UK as ROY 344E and bearing chassis number 11304222018186, the car is understood to have spent a period of its life in the USA before returning to the UK in 2015.

While relatively little is known of the earlier history, the car benefitted from considerable restorative works under the stewardship of its previous owner in 2021. The work was entrusted to The Classic Car Workshop Ltd, who carried out a respray in the original factory colour scheme, together with a retrimmed interior and replacement chrome work, helping return the car to an attractive and well-presented standard.

Mechanically, attention at that time included new injectors, a general engine check-over and brake works. More recently, the car returned to the same specialist in 2025 for further attention including rectification of a wiring fault and an engine service, suggesting continued maintenance and ongoing care rather than simple cosmetic improvement alone.

The current vendor acquired the car last year and has enjoyed limited use since purchase, now offering it for sale as part of a move towards a left-hand drive Pagoda. The car is offered complete with its matching hardtop, an increasingly desirable feature that further enhances the versatility and appeal of the W113.

Today, the car presents well throughout, retaining the restrained elegance that has made the Pagoda such a respected and sought-after classic. The combination of its original right-hand drive configuration, factory-correct colour combination and recent restorative expenditure should make it of particular interest to enthusiasts seeking a usable and well-presented example.

Accompanied by documentation relating to the restoration and maintenance works carried out in recent years, this 230SL represents an appealing opportunity to acquire one of Mercedes-Benz’s most iconic post-war designs. As ever, interested parties are encouraged to inspect the car to satisfy themselves as to its condition and history.
