1963 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider by Touring
£52,000.00 | €60,016.37 | $70,255.17

Introduced at the Geneva Motor Show 1962, the Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider marked the final evolution of Alfa Romeo's six-cylinder grand touring lineage. Built between 1962 and 1965, the model combined advanced engineering with elegant Italian coachwork, offering a refined yet engaging open-top driving experience. At its heart lies a 2,584cc all-alloy DOHC straight-six engine, a powerplant closely aligned with Alfa Romeo's distinguished competition heritage. Producing approximately 145bhp and 156 lb-ft of torque, it delivers smooth and spirited performance through a five-speed manual gearbox to the rear wheels. The chassis features coil-sprung suspension at all four corners and servo-assisted braking, with later upgrades to disc brakes throughout enhancing usability. The Spider variant, styled and constructed by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan, is particularly revered for its lightweight Superleggera construction, an advanced system employing a tubular framework clothed in hand-formed aluminium panels. Just 2,255 examples were produced, making the model both rare and highly collectible today.

This exceptional example is among a very limited number of factory-approved right hand drive conversions carried out by Ruddspeed, the renowned British engineering specialist celebrated for its meticulous craftsmanship. Originally delivered on 24th April 1963 to Mr. David Graham of Chelmsford, the car represents a rare convergence of Italian design and British engineering heritage. Surviving Ruddspeed-converted 2600 Spiders are exceedingly scarce, further enhancing this car's desirability.

Originally finished in Alfa White, the car spent a period in red before undergoing a comprehensive and sympathetic restoration, returning it to its correct factory colour. The result is a presentation that highlights the understated elegance and flowing lines characteristic of Touring's design. The interior has been beautifully re-trimmed in Rosso leather with contrasting grey carpeting, offering a refined and period-appropriate aesthetic. Restoration and maintenance have been entrusted to respected Alfa Romeo specialists including K&L Autos, Century Classics and Benalfa.

Further recommissioning has included replacement rear wheel bearings, new shock absorbers, and the installation of a Kenlowe electric cooling fan. This discreet upgrade ensures reliable temperature regulation, maintaining the engine at an optimal 87°C even in demanding conditions enhancing real-world usability without compromising originality.
