- The original Autobyk appeared before WWII, but the Super Autobyk was the more advanced post-war version introduced around 1946–47. Unlike the basic single-speed autocycles of the era, the Super Autobyk used Excelsior’s own 98cc two-speed Goblin engine, making it one of the few British autocycles with two gears
- Earlier Autobyks used Villiers engines, but the Super Autobyk’s big technical distinction was Excelsior’s in-house Goblin/Spryt engine family. The little two-stroke engine was easy to maintain and famously frugal. Period advertising claimed around 120mpg, which was a huge selling point in austere post-war Britain
- This remarkably original example has been barn-stored for a number of years and retains a delightful patina. Will require recommissioning prior to any road use
- Supplied with a current V5C and the registration appears to be transferable
- When restored would make ideal paddock run-around at one of the many prestigious motoring events held each year
