- The Yamaha AT1 was one of the bikes that helped create the modern trail/enduro motorcycle market. Introduced in 1969, it was basically Yamaha’s smaller, lighter follow-up to the hugely successful 250cc DT-1 trail bike.
- The AT1 used an air-cooled 123cc engine with Yamaha’s famous Autolube oil-injection system, meaning you didn’t have to premix fuel manually, along with an electric start and 5-speed gearbox
- Yamaha described it as a trail model with 'great running performance on a variety of road surfaces'
- Very much ahead of its time, the AT1 gave younger riders and beginners a more affordable, lighter machine with the same style and concept as their larger machines
