We fitted it with a VVC engine in 2013, which has now covered just 12,500 km. This makes it a particularly fast and sporty Elise. The Lotus Elise is a lightweight open-top sports car built by Lotus. This innovative sports car was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1995 (initially under the project name M1-11) and was the saving grace for Lotus. The car has a bonded aluminium chassis, which is very rigid. The bodywork is made of polyester. The car’s low weight (initially around 700 kg) ensures high manoeuvrability and rapid acceleration. Initially, the Elise was fitted with a 1.8-litre Rover K-Series petrol engine producing 88 kW (118 hp). Later, other variants such as the Sport 135, Sport 160 and Sport 190 were introduced, all featuring increased power through engine tuning. In 1999, the first Elise, the 111S, was launched, featuring a Rover K-series 1.8 Variable Valve Control (VVC) engine delivering 143 hp and slightly different equipment, including wider tyres.
